Departure Day! Everyone gets ready to set off for Germany!

I'm really jealous of all of you. After several months of preparation, I have to stay behind, waving as you take off on the 14th for a great time. Enjoy the Seehasenfest and everything that comes in the first week and a half. But I know my time will come, when my wife and I "tag team" slap Mr. Farris on the 24th.
It's been surprisingly fun fielding the daily questions I've been getting. How many bags should I pack (they have washing machines in Germany, too, so I say 1 plus your carryon)? What gift should I get my family (anything will be appreciated)? What's my host family like (sorry, haven't met them)? Not sure all my answers have helped.
